In January 2020 approximately 500 world opinion leaders, academics, practitioners, and patient representatives will meet in London for four days to share state-of-the-art knowledge on epidermolysis bullosa (EB). As this is the first time that such a comprehensive gathering will come together, it presents an exciting and unique opportunity for companies to get involved and sponsor the event. Together we can do more!
We are excited to have Istanbul Medikal‘s support for the 1st Global Congress on EB! Read below to find out more about our much appreciated sponsor:
1. Tell us a bit about your company/organisation.
Istanbul Medikal was established in 2002 with the aim of providing high quality medical products at reasonable prices. We provide a range of healthcare products including wound dressings and healthcare-related garments. We believe that the key to our success is our willingness to listen carefully to feedback and adapt to the needs of healthcare professionals and patients alike. Our headquarters are based in Istanbul, Turkey.
2. What is your mission or goal as a company/organisation?
Our goal is to provide high quality healthcare products at reasonable costs. We believe that high quality need not come at a high price. We are ambitious about growing our company and making our brand known around the globe. We are keen to make our product known to healthcare professionals and patients in the UK.
3. How is your company/organisation involved with EB?
Istanbul Medikal are proud to have developed a range of products. These have been specially designed for patients who suffer from Epidermolysis Bullosa. These are non-adhesive and reduce the likelihood of pain and skin trauma during application and removal. They are effective at helping wounded skin to heal, [including infected skin]. Patient feedback about our products is important to us and one consistent piece of feedback is that our wound dressings are light and comfortable. Patients also appreciate that our dressings come in a variety of sizes, including uniquely large dressings for bigger wounds. As well as wound dressings, we produce tubular bandages, socks, gloves, tights and vests for all ages. These are soft products which help minimise skin irritation in patients with delicate skin.
4. What are you looking forward to about EB 2020? Why did you decide to get involved?
We are looking forward to meeting healthcare professionals and other professionals who work with the Epidermolysis Bullosa population. We would like to demonstrate our products in order to raise awareness of them but also to gain feedback about how we can improve them. We are very successful in Turkey, where the company is based, however we would now like to demonstrate to a wider global audience that we can offer high quality EB products at more affordable prices.
5. What does the future of EB look like to your company/organisation?
At Istanbul Medikal, we understand that patient preference is paramount. If patients do not like a product then healthcare professional are less likely to prescribe and administer the product. With this in mind, we anticipate that patient feedback will play a big role in new developments and trends in wound management.
At Istanbul Medikal, we will continue to seek feedback from patients (sometimes via healthcare professionals) in order to make improvements. Our products are widely used by patients with EB in Turkey and by raising awareness and expanding our business, we hope that patients in the UK will benefit from them too in future.
