Mölnlycke

Dedicated to reducing pain and trauma

For 30 years, we have been driven by our commitment to reducing patient suffering. We are taking this commit- ment into the future – let’s continue to minimise pain, together.

In the mid-1980s, the young product developer Tomas Fabo noticed how many patients suffered during dressing changes. It broke his heart to see people scream and cry, and children sometimes having to be sedated – because of the pain at dressing changes.

Fabo worked at Mölnlycke® Wound Care division and his observations led to the development of a silicone- based adhesive which greatly reduced the pain caused by removing dressings.

The idea was simple; if the dressing doesn’t stick to the wound or damage skin, pain at removal will be reduced.

We want to make lives better
The lesson from this development was an important one. It tells the story of how a small, passionate team of researchers can have a positive impact on the lives of millions of people through direct observation and a determination to do things differently.

It starts with listening
We believe that listening to healthcare professionals, as well as patients, is invaluable for medical advancement. The insights of patients, families and healthcare professionals create a foundation for new technologies and practices.

Our purpose is to advance the per- formance of healthcare professionals around the world. In order to do that, we need to understand their needs and requirements, and openly share knowledge. It’s only then that we can create solutions that are right for care givers and their patients.

We support Debra
Mölnlycke® has been a proud sponsor of Debra for over 20 years. We are also proud of the continuous fundraising by our employees, which supports further research and patient care.
